CHELSEA ACADEMY OPENS ITS DOOR TO ISFA TEACHERS

Inspiring Day

30 coaches from ISFA schools were privileged to enjoy an excellent INSET Day at the Chelsea FC Training Ground at Cobham on Friday 13th May, courtesy of both Chelsea Football Club and Complete Sports Solutions.

Following a welcome coffee, the group moved to the First Team building for a fascinating presentation by Chelsea’s Head of Youth Development, Neil Bath, who gave an insight into the Club’s philosophy and how it goes about identifying and then developing not only talented players but also coaches.

The group then went outside to watch Chelsea’s FA Youth Cup winning coaches, Joe Edwards and Jody Morris, putting on a session with 15-17 year old academy players with the aim of giving the players tasks and practices which might be used in a school setting.  In addition to the session plan, headphones were provided to enable those present to listen to the instructions given to the players.

After lunch, Neil Bath and Gerry Harvey (Head of Education) took questions and then the group were treated to a tour of the First Team building and facilities.

This was an excellent day for all who attended and ISFA must place on record its appreciation to both the Chelsea FC Academy and also to Complete Sports Solutions for making the day possible.
