2. THE LAW MAKERS

The origins of the Laws of Association Football lie in the nineteenth century public schools. Old boys of these schools played a prominent part in agreeing a common set of Laws of the Game in the mid-nineteenth century.

3. AMATEURS IN THE F.A. CUP

In the nineteenth century independent schoolboys played leading roles in the amateur teams which won the F.A. Cup. However, the clash between amateurism and the rising tide of professionalism was to prove controversial and costly.

4. THE CORINTHIAN ERA

The Corinthians and the Casuals played a major role in the development of football in independent schools and offered a chance for the best to play at the highest level.

5. THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS FA AND ISFA

Independent Schools Football becomes organised - Representation on the Council of the Football Association, the formation of an Executive Committee and increasing activity up to the present day.
