ISFA NORTH U18 REPRESENTATIVE TEAM

BATTLING NORTH DEFEATED

Sunday 27th November
ISFA SOUTH 7 ISFA NORTH 1
at Repton School

In good conditions at Repton School, both teams started brightly and after a quarter of an hour Oran Swales opened the scoring for the South team with a well taken finish.  George O'Malley doubled the lead from the penalty spot and Harrison Ardron quickly added a third.  Oran Swales completed the first half scoring to add a fourth.

In the second half, the North threatened in the opening stages but it was Oscar Haynes-Brown for the South who added a fifth.  Jamie Whealan finished well for the North to pull a goal back, however Oscar Haynes-Brown then added two more for the South to complete his hattrick and the scoring.

PREVIOUS MATCHES

Sunday 13th November
ISFA NORTH 2 GREATER MANCHESTER SCHOOLS 6

ISFA came up against a very streetwise and ruthless Greater Manchester team that won the game by being far more clinical in the final third.  In a game with a similar balance of play number of chances for each team the scoreline tells the story of which team was more ruthless in converting chances to goals. ISFA scores two very good goals through Wealthall and Tait-Harris along with displaying some positives in possession of the football. A concern was the manner in which some of the goals were conceded and some naivety which the players need to learn from for the next fixture.

Sunday 2nd October
ISFA NORTH 1 SHROPSHIRE SCHOOLS 2
at Shrewsbury School

ISFA North opened their season with an excellent test against a talented Shropshire Schools team on a sunny afternoon at Shrewsbury School. A very even match was decided with two goals against an ISFA team who showed glimpses of promise. The opening exchanges were frantic but ISFA settled well and looked dangerous on the counter attack with good width and took the lead with a smart turn and shot from striker Darbo.

The ISFA team however did not find the fluency to build on this but were still capable of creating moments of promise in attack. After surrendering the lead ISFA were close to scoring an excellent team goal when Ferrinho swing over a cross however Tait-Harris couldn't direct his header past the Shropshire goalkeeper. A Chilaka overhead kick was as close as ISFA came with Shropshire finishing the stronger of the two teams and won the game with a late goal. The impressive Benjamin Crump in the ISFA goal prevented Shropshire adding to their lead.

Another tough test awaits on November 13th at Bolton School against Greater Manchester Schools.
