SOUTH-EAST U15 SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT

HEADINGTON SCHOOL VICTORIOUS IN U15 GIRLS SUMMER TOURNAMENT

On a glorious summer afternoon ACS Cobham played host to the annual ISFA Girls U15 summer tournament, this year with a record 10 participating schools. The tournament was split into two groups with group being competitive from the very start with ACS Cobham, Headington, and Surbiton High all opening with victories. Surbiton High were victorious again to notch up back to back victories whilst ACS Cobham and Headington played out a draw in their second game before both gaining wins in their third game. Headington booked their semi-final spot with a victory over Surbiton High before Leighton Park and Bedford Modern each picked up points with a draw. This meant the final semi-final spot came down to a head-to-head between ACS Cobham and Surbiton High and a 0-0 draw was enough for ACS Cobham to progress.

In Group B Royal Russell started strongly defeating Bedales and never looked back notching four victories and a 100% record in qualifying for the semi-finals. Millfield and Repton made strong starts both beginning with 2-0 wins, Repton made it back-to-back wins against Bedford Modern before Millfield lost narrowly to Royal Russell, whilst Bedales and Bedford Modern both picked up a point. Millfield defeated Repton in their final game meaning Repton had to defeat Royal Russell to finish above them, something they couldn’t do as Royal Russell claimed top spot in the group and Millfield joined them in the semi-finals.

An early Headington goal was enough to see them defeat Millfield, whilst ACS Cobham and Royal Russell could only be separated by penalties with the hosts edging through via a shoot-out. In the final both teams went for the win and it was a superb strike from the edge of for Headington that saw them win the final and claim the trophy.
