AKS Lytham hosted the Girls North Regional U11 sevens on a perfect summers day in Lancashire. Three schools, making five teams participated in the regional qualifier: AKS Lytham, Bolton School and Terra Nova.

The schools played in a league format, playing each other once throughout the day. AKS Lytham 1 proved to be strong going in to their final game against Terra Nova undefeated. However, Terra Nova, although had only played two games at this point, where also undefeated. AKS Lytham 1 went into the game knowing that a win would ensure that they retain their North title, whilst Terra Nova knew they had to win to remain in the running of being champions. The fixture, as to be expected, was an extremely tight affair but AKS nicked the game with 1 goal, securing their victory not only undefeated but without conceding a single goal. Second place came down to the final game of the day between Bolton School 1 and Terra Nova, who both had 6 points on the board. With everything to play for both teams held tight and the game resulted in a draw at 1-1. Second place was to be decided on goal difference and it was Terra Nova who advanced after two high scoring victories gave them a strong goal difference. Both schools can now look forward to the National Finals at St. George’s Park later this month.

Final Standings:

1st AKS Lytham 1 12pts
2nd Terra Nova 7pts
3rd Bolton 1 7pts
4th Bolton 2 3pts
5th  AKS Lytham 2 0pts
