There was a dramatic climax to the Girls U13 South Central Regional Qualifier with as many as four teams going into the final round of matches still with a chance of making it to St George's Park, and three teams finishing equal on points at the top of the table.

St Aubyn’s School hosted the final qualifying tournament for the south region with seven competing schools taking part on a cold and windy day in Essex. Headington, King Alfred and Forest School provided early evidence as to what was to come with all three schools picking up opening round victories. Bedes School also started well with an early victory against host school St Aubyn’s, before Headington and Forest drew in the first of the table topping clashes. King Alfred continued their good start with a second victory before also drawing against Forest, St Aubyn’s and South Hampstead played out a goalless draw, whilst Headington came out on top 1-0 in a thrilling end to end match against Bede's.

Notting Hill & Ealing High School soon recovered from a slow start picking up a victory against South Hampstead and a draw against leaders Headington, meanwhile St Aubyn’s excellent defence were turning them into the draw specialists recording three consecutive draws against teams at the top of the table.

Going into the final matches both Headington and King Alfred knew a win in their match would see them claim victory, however neither school could find the breakthrough with the game ending 0-0. Forest defeated Notting Hill & Ealing to join them on level on 12 points, with all three schools finishing unbeaten and tied at the top of the table. With goal difference and goals scored needed to separate the teams, it was Headington who came out on top and lifted the trophy, followed by Forest in second place, and King Alfred agonisingly missing out on the national finals day by one goal in third.
