What is Futsal?

Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced, five-a-side football game that is widely played across the world and is officially recognised by both UEFA and FIFA. The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game. The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.

To enter the tournament simply complete and return the entry form to Martyn Hall at Kingston Grammar School via This email address is being protected from spambots. Repton School overcame Kingston Grammar School 2-0 in a competitive final to be victorious in the first ever ISFA U14 Futsal Competition at Brunel University.

Seven competing schools took part in a fantastic day of futsal which was fast, skilful, competitive, and hugely exciting throughout. The teams were split into two groups with Hampton School winning all three games to top Group 1, where they were joined by Repton in the cup semi-finals. Group 2 was much closer with KES Witley, Kingston Grammar School and Winchester all finishing tied on points, with KES Witley and Kingston Grammar edging through on goal difference.

The semi-finals were competitive with excellent futsal being played by all of the teams. Repton School defeated KES Witley 3-1, whilst Kingston Grammar School edged out Hampton via a penalty shoot-out after a thrilling 1-1 draw. The final was competitive right to the end with a late goal for Repton sealing a 2-0 victory and saw their boys claim victory.

The plate competition was equally as exciting as Millfield School produced an impressive performance and lethal finishing to defeat UCS Hampstead 3-0 in the final.

ISFA National Football Development Manager Ian Bent, was delighted with the success of the first futsal tournament. “This was our first futsal competition and I’m delighted with both the interest from schools and the success of our first competition. A huge thanks goes to Martyn Hall from Kingston Grammar School for all of his hard work in organising today’s event. Thanks also goes to Brunel University and our match officials who all ensured the players had a great experience of futsal”.

ISFA is very keen to organise many more futsal events and competitions and any schools keen to host should contact Ian Bent via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
