St. Martin's School

St Martin’s School was delighted to deliver football coaching to over 200 children from 8 different schools across three successful football festivals during September. We hosted two skills festivals that included F.A. Lidl Skills coaches. They were on hand to provide skills sessions to over 150 boys and girls aged 8 and 9.

St Martin’s then hosted an indoor futsal tournament for Year 5 boys. Futsal is recognised as a key way to develop technical skills in young footballers and top footballers such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo grew up learning their skills playing futsal. All boys took part in various skill development training sessions, excellently led by Mark Swales from The F.A. and then competed in a series of 5-a-side futsal matches. It was a fast paced afternoon and each team had to rely on their skills and speed of passing. Mr Miller, from St Martin's School, was impressed with the skill level of the children on display throughout the day. “Each boy really took on board the ideas of the game of futsal, trying new skills to find space in a small area. The creativity on the pitch was impressive!” The Junior Community Hub School Programme is a partnership between ISFA and the Hub School to enhance provision of football to boys and girls under the age of 11. Every player received a medal of participation and players from each school were recognised by school and F.A staff as players of the day.
