SEASON 2015-16

Thursday 26th November saw the inaugural ISFA Under 8 Festival, at Rokeby Sports Ground.  Nearly 60 boys, from 8 different Prep Schools attending, taking part in skills sessions delivered by ISFA National Development Manager, Ian Bent, and a festival style round-robin of matches.

Lanesborough, King’s House, The Mall, Newland House, Parkside, Eaton House the Manor, Aldro and hosts Rokeby enjoyed three hours of football fun on the hallowed turf of the 1st XI Pitch, at the end of a busy season.

Staff, referees and supporting parents were all incredibly impressed with the quality of football being played, by all teams, at such a young age.  There was certainly evidence of mature heads on young shoulders.

Ben Moir (Director of Sport, Rokeby) felt that the tournament was a huge success – ‘To see so many boys from different schools come together for a festival, such as this, was a pleasure to see.  To have eight teams playing against each other, with the element of winning being removed, certainly saw the boys play with more freedom than normally encountered.  It gave all involved a real opportunity to express their skill level and ability to play football.  The event was a massive success and we already look forward this becoming an annual part of our footballing calendar.’
