BURY FC 4 ISFA NORTH WEST 3
Friday 12th February
Bury FC Academy
The ISFA U13 North West game against Bury FC was the perfect of warm up match in preparation for the Shrewsbury Festival. In three separate periods the game swung from one way to the other each time. During the first, the boys; still getting used to one another took too long to adjust, losing the third 2-0. However, great resilience brought the North West team to a 3-0 win in the second period with a hat-trick from Diaz-Rainey! Some fine play during this section too! The final period went back in the favour of Bury by a couple of goals – both however, on the counter attack against the run of play.
Overall, a wonderful match up and a great effort by both teams. Definitely a brilliant method to develop the boys!
MANCHESTER CITY 1 ISFA NORTH WEST 4
Saturday 30th January
Etihad complex, Manchester
The North West team travelled to the very impressive Manchester City Football Academy on Saturday 30th January to play against the high youth standards of the Manchester giants! The match began quite tight, with scrappy bits of play and a few missed opportunities. It clearly took a while for the boys to get a stronghold on the game and the experience may have initially got to them.
However, after the initial 25 minutes, the North West team began to gain the upper hand and keeping possession led to numerous chances. Tom McDonald scored an impressive 25 yard goal after some great build up play from the defence. Soon after, Matthew Diaz-Rainey finished off some neat play from the wing. Towards the end of the game Michael Mellon scored a further two before a consolation goal for Manchester City.
A very impressive match for the North West team, and something to build on from here. More than this it was a great experience for the boys and definitely a game that will develop them in every way possible. A big thank you to Manchester City for hosting us at the academy centre.
PREVIOUS MATCH REPORTS
ISFA U13 North West v BURY FC ACADEMY
The U13 team began their campaign against Bury FC Academy in what would be a testing game for their initial one. With some excellent football on show, the result ended up a fair 2-2 draw. A very good atmosphere was also in presence with no less than 100 spectators coming out to watch!
ISFA U13 North West v ACCRINGTON STANLEY FC
The second game of the preparation season came against professional academy side, Accrington Stanley. After one game together it was evident the NW boys knew the shape and other players well. Going 1-0 up early on was a massive positive. However, a strong Accrington side pulled the score level before the ISFA schoolboys’ went 2-1 ahead. Unfortunately, two very late goals gave Accrington the narrow win but with so many positives the NW side are only heading in one direction!
