Clifton College hosted the South West U11 Sevens on an extremely windy day. The tournament was enjoyed by nine participating teams split into two groups; one of four and the other of five. Both groups where extremely tight with very little between all teams. Wycliffe where winners in Group B, Beaudesert Park went through as runners up on result over QEH, who had the same points, and Monmouth Prep went through to the quarter finals in fourth place. In Group A, The Paragon went through as undefeated winners, Hereford Cathedral where a close second on 6 points, third and fourth was decided on goal difference between St. Peter’s Prep and Clifton College. The quarter finals saw group winners The Paragon knock out Monmouth on penalties after a 0-0 draw, QEH knocked out Hereford with a single goal, St. Peter’s put two pass Beaudesert’s one to secure a semi-final spot and Wycliffe knocked out the hosts, Clifton, with a 2-1 win. The semi-finals where extremely tight with St. Peter’s claiming a spot in the final after defeating The Paragon 3-1 on penalties and QEH came back against Wycliffe to win 3-2. The final saw QEH continue their knockout form and put three pass St. Peter’s to secure a 3-1 victory and claim their spot at the National Finals in May.
