All competing schools admirably played their way through the day at Repton School in what were very cold and challenging conditions, as the rain continued to pour throughout the day. 18 schools competed in the Spring Midlands Regional Tournament, Altrincham and Lambrook were victorious and will now head to St. George’s Park in May to compete at the National Finals.

The Elms and Altrincham emerged the strongest team in Group A with Lambrook qualifying as one of the two best 3rd placed teams from the three groups. In Group B Hill House and Bluecoat qualified for the quarter finals both having gained 11 points in their group. In Group C the two automatic qualifiers were Fairfield Prep and Nottingham High, and King’s Hawford also qualified as one of the best two 3rd placed teams.

In the quarter-finals The Elms convincingly beat King’s Hawford, Altrincham played out a narrow 2-1 victory against Nottingham High, Bluecoat put one pass Fairfield to progress. Lambrook needed penalties to win against Hill House after their match finished 1-1.

In the semi-final Altrincham narrowly defeated The Elms 1-0, while Lambrook convincingly beat Bluecoat to secure their spot in the final. The finalist had already met in the group stages where they drew 0-0. However, it was Altrincham who secured the victory with 2 goals to 0. Both finalist can now look forward to the National Finals.
