SOUTH-EAST (Spring) U11 SEVEN-A-SIDE CHAMPIONSHIP

BERKHAMSTED RETAIN TITLE FOR A THIRD YEAR

Having been postponed a week earlier due to the weather the South-East (spring) tournament saw 6 schools enjoy a football filled morning. The teams competed in a round-robin tournament playing each other once. Highgate stormed through the morning with some impressive wins going into their final game against The Beacon only needing a draw. Last year’s winners, Berkhamsted, started strong with a 6-0 win, and despite dropping points to Highgate in their second game, they pick up momentum wining their next two games to put them firmly back in the running. The Beacon put in a fine display and defeated Highgate 2-1 giving them their first defeat of the day. Berkhamsted maintained their form and ended their day with a 3-0 win over the City of London. Berkhamsted and Highgate finished on equal points and equal goal difference, meaning the winners was to be decided on goals scored. Berkhamsted retained their title with two additional goals and can once again look forward to the National Finals at St. George’s Park. Yateley Manor finished third in the group with 9 points, The Beacon finished on 7 points, City of London came in fifth place and Widford lodge sixth.
