SEASON 2018-19 CONCLUSION

The second season of the Hudl Independent Schools’ League saw a thrilling finish as Repton lifted the title for the second successive season after pipping Boodles ISFA Cup winners Royal Russell on goal difference.

Millfield had looked to be favourites for much of the campaign only for late season defeats to Royal Russell and Hampton to curtail their challenge. Repton, despite an early defeat to Millfield, consistently gathered wins throughout the season including a 1-0 against Royal Russell and a thrilling 5-4 against Hampton. Royal Russell matched the victories stride-for stride with both sides scoring over twenty goals. However, it was Repton’s five clean sheets in the seven games that eventually tipped the balance with a 2-0 win over Bede’s in the last League game of the season finally giving them back-to-back titles.

Once again the Hudl Independent Schools’ League has brought together some of the best football schools in the Independent sector in a competition that is as thrilling as it is tough. The top four places were separated by only three points, and with Ardingly formally joining the League next season to take the number of teams up to nine, the competition for the 2019-20 title is going to be hotter than ever.
