BARRY BURNS NORTHERN EIGHTS

QUEEN ETHELBURGA'S FIRST WIN

This year's tournament was held at Bolton School on 6th March in challenging conditions throughout the day.  18 schools took part with Queen Ethelburga's, Cheadle Hulme, Repton and Shrewsbury qualifying from the group phase to the semi-finals of the Cup Competition.  In a close and fiercely contested Final, Queen Ethelburga's ran out 2-1 winners, with Kyle Bingham winning the Player of the Final Trophy.

In the Plate Competition semi-finals, Oswesty overcame Bolton School and Bury Grammar School defeated St. Bede's.  In the Final, Bury found the legs and tenacity to outlast Oswestry after another close encounter.

Congrutulations to all the boys involved in what is always a tough, tiring but always thoroughly enjoyable day of football for northern schools.  Our thanks also to the Burns Family for their continued invaluable support in sponsoring the event.
