2018 TOURNAMENT: REPTON WIN AGAIN
Repton won the Barry Burns Northern Eights for the fourth year in succession at the Kings School Chester.
18 teams competed in three groups of six with Repton, Cheadle Hulme, Shrewsbury and Queen Ethelburga’s College from York, who were making their debut in the tournament, qualifying for the semi-final. Repton were already looking the most dangerous side in the tournament and they disposed of Queen Ethelburga’s in their semi-final. Meanwhile Shrewsbury were dominant against Cheadle Hume but without managing to break them down and it took a penalty shootout to see Shrewsbury through.
The final was a close affair with Shrewsbury running their old rivals much closer than many expected and there were chances at both ends. However Repton finally managed to catch Shrewsbury on the break and score the crucial goal for minutes from the end.
In the Plate competition Manchester grammar school defeated the hosts Kings School, Chester, in the Final.
