On a wet afternoon at Wolverhampton Grammar School four teams battled it out in the Smith Construction ISFA U11 Girls Cup Midlands Qualifier. Repton Prep made the perfect start defeating the host team thanks to some excellent teamwork and they were joined by Cathedral who defeated Terra Nova in their opening match. With all to play for in the clash of unbeaten Cathedral School and Repton Prep, a draw prevailed, keeping them both in contention.
A tight game between Wolverhampton Grammar and Terra Nova with some excellent defensive efforts ended with Terra Nova edging a 1-0 win going into the final round of group matches. Cathedral continued their unbeaten run, winning their 3rd group match against the host team, while Repton prep could only play out a draw, unable to break down the strong defence of Terra Nova.
This set-up 2 exciting semi-final matches, with Cathedral taking on the hosts in a tightly fought game, resulting in a thrilling penalty shootout to separate the 2 teams, with Cathedral winning 2-1. The second semi-final saw a dominant display as Repton scored 4 against the hosts, taking them to the final.
Once again the Cathedral and Repton were inseparable, with the full-time score ending 0-0, leading to another thrilling penalty shootout. This time it was Repton that came out victorious winning 2-1 and lifting the winning trophy.
